Relics imbedded in Altar: St. Timothy and St. Titus. Their feast day is January 26.
1829- First Mass in Suffield celebrated for Irish canal workers.
1852- St. Mary, Windsor Locks, “Mother Church” built.
1876- First Mass, home of Patrick Devine, Sheldon Street.
1882- First public Mass at Academy Hall, West Suffield.
1884- Sacred Heart Church incorporated, property purchased. Construction began on original wooden church.
1885- Cornerstone laid for church.
1886- Dedication of church, November 25, daughter church of Saint Mary’s.
1913- Sacred Heart established as an independent parish. First Mass by a resident pastor, Rev. John E. Clark.
1914- First rectory built at Sacred Heart.
1916- St. Joseph Church established.
1936- Women’s Auxiliary formed to benefit the parish.
1938- Original Sacred Heart church building remodeled.
1955- Basement hall built in space below old church.
1963- Construction on second parish hall completed.
1984- Old rectory razed – 3 year building program began.
1985- New church dedicated November 3. One hundreth anniversary celebrated. Six classrooms added to parish hall. Old church raised.
1987- New rectory occupied.
2004- Church hall dedicated to Fr. Ted Raczynski, retiring pastor.
